my aunt was a teenager when i was little and she taught me everything about late 90s/early aughts music. some of my earliest core memories are riding with her in her car while she ran errands listening to her mix cds. i knew every word to every song of destiny’s child album the writing’s on the wall before i knew how to ride a bicycle. it’s crazy how i am only a VERY young girl1, yet have had immense love in my heart for beyoncé for over two decades now. she truly is the artist of a lifetime. there is lots of different artists’ music that reminds me of certain periods of time in my life but none of the memories are as visceral as when i listen to her old albums. i can remember practicing the choreography to crazy in love in my bright hot pink painted walls childhood bedroom. i remember learning about the illuminati in bible class (LOL the south is truly a wild pl…
