at the start of 2020, i really leaned into the new year new me mantra. i quit smoking after almost a decade! i actually have never been able to do anything in moderation so i Straight Edged my way into the new year. i started paying more than the minimum on my credit card bills and making serious plans to move to mauna kea¹ in the fall. as much as the icy paradise seemed too good to be true, so did the notion of making 2020 my year. and then things, as you know, went from worse to worser. and even worser, still. if you are reading this, we all managed to somehow survive 2020. unless you reading this from the great Beyond and wow! thank you for your loyal readership!
