this is the fifth instalment of my free britney series. each week, i will take a closer look at a key player in the conservatorships leading up to the next court hearing on september 29*

before the resurgence of free britney in 2019, james spears was widely accepted to be a great father. he stepped in to save his daughter’s life and career from such a dark spiral. he selflessly dedicated his life to his middle child, something not many people can say. but even the most brief closer glance at the situation paints a much different portrait than tmz curiously has painted of britney’s father over the years.

there is a part of me (probably because i am a pisces) that sees the good¹ in jamie spears. if i ignore 95% of what i am about to write to you, dear reader, then i can imagine a world where i have a fountain of empathy for him. he had a very hard life, none the least being his mother’s very tragic suicide where she took her life on the grave of her deceased infant that had passed nearly a decade before, after several failed suicide attempts prior. she was only 31. jamie had three other siblings and two of them ended up homeless with criminal records. jamie also survived…
