what's a soulmate?
happy national best friend's day... a week late... just like my 620 unread texts, i may take a minute (or month) to respond but i WILL get to them...
growing up in the south in the belt loop of the bible belt, there are many things that were impressed upon me at a very young age. but despite having read the bible back to front by age 8 and attended countless services and sunday schools, the thing that always truly stuck with me was how many different words for love there were. from platonic to familial to situationships to true love, hebrew has different words for it all. and love is the most used word in the bible. i think that’s why i feel so dumbstruck by the bigotry masquerading as Family Values because none of it is anchored in love nor compassion…but that’s a different newsletter.
i am definitely a person who blurs the line between acquaintance and friend, but only because i value each person i encounter’s interactions with and impressions on my life. i remember the kindness of a stranger long after i have forgotten their face. things are pretty bleak right now. human beings’ worth and safety is measured by a piece of a paper…
