another one of my cousins has been making headlines this week for doing the most. again.
firstly, anyone that uses the term “cancel culture” unironically is a jester. can the internet be a toxic wasteland of hate and negativity? you betcha! but this notion that cancel culture is an actual thing is so ludicrous. especially because it usually is only applied to very rich and famous people having to face public lashings online because they did or said something extremely stupid or hurtful, and sometimes even illegal.
louis ck is doing worldwide comedy tours, roman polanski is still filming movies and fragrance commercials starring natalie portman and michelle williams, r. kelly cannot even read the tweets of support that people make for him, kevin spacey is filming videos that are totally not psychopathic and terrifying, and david dobrik spent one month in hiding but is now back on track to likely kill one of his friends for his vlogs….and those are just a few of the illegal offenders!
chrissy teigen private messaging anyone that she cannot wait for them to die after publicly announcing they need to take a dirt nap would be insane regardless of who it was toward, but truly beyond bonkers that her “trolling” was aimed at a sixteen year old. but she is still a baddie millionaire married to an egot winning millionaire with two gorgeous kids. nobody came and confiscated the keys to their 16 million dollar home, drained their bank accounts, or spit on them as they were marched through the town wearing a bell of shame. BUT she cannot tweet without being called a loser or whatever. yeah, she is truly suffering. cancel culture strikes yet again!!!
kevin hart has a new talk show despite a history of homophobia that made him have ellen have to take him to the pottery barn table. trisha paytas and tana mongeau have both done and said terrible things and they both recently purchased multimillion dollar homes. justin bieber is still out here despite a laundry list of “cancellations” (my favourite being writing “truly inspiring to be able to come here. anne was a great girl. hopefully she would have been a belieber.” in the guestbook at the anne frank house in amsterdam).
humans are very dumb and there are no greater dummies than celebrities and/or richy riches! they will always say/do bad and stupid and even hurtful things. c’est la vie!
but dadingoatemycommonsense doubling down on his weirdo rant before circling back around to complain about people being mad and dragging him online instead of educating him on why it was wrong to say things that are (to quote kid fury) so basically and obviously fucking stupid and counterproductive and damaging and antiquated as fuck.
maybe if dababyboy was a teenager, like ok you are 16 and an asshole but let’s have a conversation! but dabitchass….sir, you are turning 30 years old this year. words mean things and he chose his to be aggressive toward people with hiv, women, and gay men. FOR. NO. REASON.
especially online, it seems like a lot of white cisgender bisexual/pansexual women move as if they speak for the entire lgbtq+ community. and while i am sure she meant it from a kind place, a white cisgender woman that was born very wealthy and will die very wealthy is probably not the best person suited to offer a circle jerk of kumbaya for danotsobossbaby. miley cyrus has predominantly dated men and the times she has been public with women, she was applauded and certainly never in fear of her safety. being an ally does not mean being the loudest voice in the room. sometimes it means shutting the fuck up and letting someone else speak, especially if they are more directly affected by what was said….
there are worst things than offering to educate someone and extend kindness, but maybe save it for someone that has not been flaunting toy story lanez around like he is a new telfar bag as a way to get back at megan thee stallion for *checks notes* being shot by him. i hope mr. jonathan lyndale kirk takes this time to actually educate himself and emerges a kinder person. his wallet is a little bruised currently but ultimately he will be fine and releasing his interpretation of music again.
and that wraps up today’s post inspired by the rage journey i am currently on as i have spent this week working on the first instalment of my free britney series for members dropping tomorrow. it is called “DEATH! to all of them” inspired by this wendy williams moment that i will never be over.
