as you get older, the memories that form who you are also remind you of the things you have lost/can never get back. i have already lived a thousand lives in this one, scattering little pieces of my heart all over the world. i think one of the hardest parts of getting older is the distance between the people you love and yourself is ever expanding and it gets harder and harder to close the gap. jobs, babies, timezones, and just generally life will get in the way. you could drown in “what ifs” especially if it feels like the “what ares” are cinderblocks tied to your toes. it is nearly as hard to forget a deep connection as it is to build a life around it with oceans between you.
